Does your carpet cleaner pre-vacuum?

In my IICRC certification class, the instructor asked who pre vacuumed before carpet cleaning. I have to admit, I didn't take it very serious myself at the time. I mean, I'm about to blast these carpets with high pressure hot water and suck it all out with a high powered hose...why vacuum first?

He provided some compelling reasons. According to "Carpet Cleaning for the Value Added Technician", nearly 80% of soil is insoluble which means it doesn't dissolve in water or solvents. A truck mounted carpet cleaning unit is not designed to remove dry soil regardless of the power of the vacuum system. The best and most thorough way to remove insoluble soil is with the right vacuum.

Another study from "Quantification of Foreign Contaminant from Flooring Surface through XRF Technology" used NASA developed XRF (x ray fluorescence) technology to accurately determine: "Does it really matter if you pre vacuum when you clean carpets?"

The answer was clear, no room for interpretation here - YES IT MATTERS!

By pre-vacuuming combined with water extraction carpet cleaning, they extracted 15%-30% more dirt and particulate matter than just cleaning the carpets without pre-vacuuming - significantly improved results.

We've since been diligently pre-vacuuming every carpet cleaning job we do. It's a very important step, and not every carpet cleaner does it. Along the way I've been researching the best vacuum to use for my carpet cleaning clients. Something that can remove this extra soil and make a big improvement over your run of the mill, every day vacuum.

ANSWER: The ProTeam Super CoachVac. Yes, it's as spectacular as it sounds. This high powered commercial vacuum removes more than 99% of dust, soil, and other pollutants measuring 1 micron (one-millionth of a meter) and larger. It's 4 stage HEPA filtration system filters 99.9% of these particles 1 micron or larger. This means your carpets get cleaner...not only the dirt you can see, but those tiny particles you can't see but are breathing in. Then we follow it up with our truck mounted hot water extraction process for amazingly clean carpets.

We at Overturf's Cleaning are excited to use our ProTeam vacuum in your home as we continue to improve our processes and improve your air quality and the quality of your carpet cleaning.
